FRITZ!Box 6810 LTE Service

Individual web pages cannot be displayed or are not correctly displayed

Some (but not) all web pages cannot be viewed on a network device (such as a computer, smartphone) connected to the FRITZ!Box. The web pages in question are either not displayed at all or are not correctly displayed (for example incomplete or shifted display of the web page, missing images).

Important:Some of the settings described here are only displayed if the advanced view is enabled in the user interface. The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the issue persists.

1 Attempting to call up web page later

Websites may be temporarily unavailable if maintenance work is being performed on them, for example:

  • Open the web page at a later time.

2 Configuring a DNS server in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "Internet" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Account Information" in the "Internet" menu.
  3. Click on the "DNS Server" tab.
  4. Enable the option "Use DNSv4 servers assigned by the Internet service provider (recommended)".
  5. Click "Apply" to save your settings.

3 Configuring a network device as a DHCP client

4 Disabling filters for web pages

If the FRITZ!Box parental controls are configured incorrectly, web pages may not be displayed correctly, or they may not be displayed at all. Therefore, disable the filter for web pages in the FRITZ!Box for testing purposes:

  1. Click "Internet" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Filters" in the "Internet" menu.
  3. Select the access profile "Unrestricted" for the respective network device from the drop-down list.
  4. Click "Apply" to save your settings.

If you are now able to call up the web pages in question, or if the web pages are now displayed correctly, then the filter for web pages in the FRITZ!Box parental controls was preventing the web pages from being displayed.

For instance, some web pages cannot be displayed when the whitelist is enabled because the web pages load content from other web pages that are not included on the whitelist. If you call up www.wikipedia.org, for example, data from www.wikimedia.org is also loaded. If only wikipedia.org is on the whitelist, then this web page cannot be properly displayed.

In this context, also note that direct IP access to websites is blocked as a rule when the filter for web pages is enabled. This means that you can no longer enter the IP address 212.42.244.80 instead of www.avm.de to call up the AVM website, for example.

Note:Under "Internet > Filters > Lists" in the user interface you can see which IP addresses the FRITZ!Box prevented from being called up and release them if you would like.

You can either choose to not restrict Internet access for the relevant device, or you can adjust the filter for web pages in the FRITZ!Box parental controls.

5 Using a different web browser

Not all web browsers support current web standards and technologies (for example HTML5, JavaScript) to the same extent. Depending on the web standards and technologies used by a web page and which browser it was optimized for, some web browsers cannot display individual web pages correctly:

  • Test a different web browser (for example Chrome, Firefox) and make sure that you are using the current version of the browser.

6 Configuring security software

Some security software such as virus scanners, parental controls filters and ad blockers prevent web pages from being displayed in order to block their content or technologies being used (for example Flash, JavaScript).

  • Configure an exception for the website in all of your security software.

Note:Should you have questions on configuring your security software, consult the manufacturer.

7 Contacting your provider

  • Contact your Internet service provider for a solution.
