Using FRITZ!Powerline in a home network without a DHCP server

By default, FRITZ!Powerline obtains its IP settings from the router (for example FRITZ!Box) via DHCP. If you would like to use FRITZ!Powerline in a home network without a DHCP server, you must manually configure its IP settings.

Note:The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for FRITZ!Powerline.

1 Preparing a network device

You must temporarily configure specific IP settings for the network device (for example a computer, smartphone, tablet) you want to configure FRITZ!Powerline with:

The following step is only necessary if you would like to configure FRITZ!Powerline when it is in LAN bridge or powerline bridge mode and has static IP settings:

The following step is only necessary if you would like to configure FRITZ!Powerline when it is in wireless bridge mode and has static IP settings:

  1. Enter 192.168.178.200 as the IP address in the network device.
  2. Enter 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask in the network device.
  3. Enter 192.168.178.2 as the standard gateway in the network device.
  4. Enter 192.168.178.2 as the DNS server in the network device.

  1. Configure FRITZ!Powerline as a wireless bridge and keep the network cable connecting FRITZ!Powerline and the FRITZ!Box plugged in.
  2. Click "Network" in the FRITZ!Powerline user interface.
  3. Click "Network Settings" in the "Network" menu.
  4. Enable the option "Configure the IP address manually".
  5. Enter the IP settings in the corresponding fields.
  6. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Now FRITZ!Powerline uses static IP settings. Return the network device you used to configure FRITZ!Powerline to its original IP settings.

ATTENTION!After changing the connection type you must configure the settings again as described here.
