Attempt to set up a wireless connection to a wireless router from another manufacturer fails
Although the wireless connection was configured according to our guide, the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater does not establish a connection to the wireless router.
Important:If you are using a FRITZ!Box, follow the instructions in this guide.
Note:If you are using a different wireless router, refer to the device's manufacturer for information on the procedure, for example consult the manual.
1 Briefly disabling the MAC address filter
If you want to manually connect the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater with the wireless router, the wireless router's MAC address filter must be disabled while registering the repeater:
- Disable the wireless router's MAC address filter.
Note:You can re-enable the MAC address filter as soon as you have finished configuring the wireless connection between the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater and the wireless router.
2 Enabling the wireless router's WPS function
To connect the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater with your wireless router at the touch of a button (WPS - Wi-Fi Protected Setup), you must enable the wireless router's WPS function and use the correct WPS method:
- Enable the wireless router's WPS function and select "Push Button method" (WPS-PBC, Push Button Configuration) for the WPS method.
3 Correcting the wireless router's wireless encryption method
In the factory settings, the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater supports the secure encryption methods WPA2 and WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) at the same time. Make sure that your wireless router is set for one of the following encryption methods:
- Enable the encryption method WPA2 (CCMP) or WPA (TKIP) in the wireless router's settings.
