Installing the FRITZ!WLAN Stick

The driver software for your FRITZ!WLAN Stick is installed automatically when you connect it to the USB port on your computer. This driver software integrates the FRITZ!WLAN Stick in your computer's operating system and provides a connection monitor for monitoring the wireless connection (WiFi).

Requirements / Restrictions

  • Windows 10, Windows 8 or Windows 7 (64-bit or 32-bit) is installed on the computer.

1 Transmitting the wireless security settings to FRITZ!WLAN Stick

If you are using a FRITZ!Box with a USB port as your wireless router, you can easily transmit the wireless security settings to the FRITZ!WLAN Stick prior to installation:

  • Connect the FRITZ!WLAN Stick to a USB port on the FRITZ!Box.

The "Info" LED remains lit once the wireless security settings have been transmitted.

2 Installing the FRITZ!WLAN Stick

  1. Connect the FRITZ!WLAN Stick to a USB port on your computer. Windows detects the FRITZ!WLAN Stick automatically and starts to install the drivers. This process may take some time.
  2. If the message "Installation of [...] concluded successfully" is displayed, click "Close".
  3. If the window "CD drive [...]: AVM FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick [...]" is displayed, click "AVM FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick [...] Installation" and follow the instructions.

Now the FRITZ!WLAN Stick is installed. The wireless connection to the FRITZ!Box is set up automatically if you already transmitted the wireless security settings to the stick. If you are not using a FRITZ!Box with a USB port as your wireless router, set up the wireless connection to the wireless router manually.
